The back is shaped higher than the front using the German Short Rows technique. At the same time, increases are made in mirrored pairs, with four increases on each increase round. Classic raglan shaping is also used to achieve the desired stitch count in certain sizes.
The work is knitted back and forth until the sleeve stitches are placed on hold. Then the front and back are joined, and the body is worked in the round.
When the desired body length is reached, bind off using a double Italian bind-off. The sleeves are then worked in double rib to the desired length.
Finally, a facing is picked up along the front edges from the held stitches, to form a neat finish for the zipper on the wrong side. The zipper is sewn in by hand at the end.
We recommend knitting a swatch before starting to ensure correct gauge. Please note that the given gauge is measured in rib pattern after washing.
Sizes The measurements provided are taken with the ribbing relaxed (not stretched). The rib will naturally conform to the body and can stretch by approximately 15–20 cm without losing its appearance. The sizes correspond to standard European children’s sizes.
